REGULAR CLASSES:
Ashtanga Yoga- Mon. @ 7:00pm- 75-90 minute class
We are once again opening this class to those without active injuries. If you have questions about the suitability of this class, please contact Liza.
*Please note: There are student teachers who will be leading sections of the class, participating, and occasionally just observing as part of their Ashtanga Teacher Training. Liza will continue to be present at these classes, as well as supervise the student teachers.
Ashtanga Yoga: Short Forms- Fri. @ 6:15am- One hour
In this introductory level class, we cover the Ashtanga in a 'short form' variation lasting approximately 45 minutes. Aspects of the internal workings of yoga will be covered, including the use of a specialized breath-'ujjayi'; the use of 'bandhas', or energy gates; and 'drishti', or focal point for the external gaze. This class requires no prior yoga experience.
Basic Hatha- 'Moderate' on Mon. @9:30am, Thu. @5:30pm + 7:00pm, + Sun. @12:00noon; 'Gentle' on Thu. @ 9:30am
Students of all abilities should feel comfortable attending any of these classes. Different teachers will bring different elements to their classes, whether it is the gentle, flowing poses of 'vinyasa' style yoga, or the longer poses of the 'Yin' or 'Restorative' styles. The Thursday morning class is especially beneficial for those living with chronic conditions, or who simply need a gentler approach to a yoga practice. These classes cover the basics of a yoga practice and are a good place for beginners. Please note: the Thu. 7:15pm + Sun. 12:00noon class are one hour classes ($10).
Iyengar- inspired Yoga: Tue. @ 6:00pm- 75 minute class
*We will be adding a second class on Tuesday nights beginning in September. 'Basic/Gentle' @ 5:30pm and 'Level Two' @ 6:45pm
You will be taught all the classic standing postures as well as Level One back bends, twists and forward bends, plus an introduction to pranayama. With the assistance of props, you will begin to experience the depths of a posture in a safe way. You will also be introduced to the eight limb path of yoga.
Kundalini Yoga- Tue. + Thu @ 6:15am; Thu. @ 7:45am- One hour class
Let an early morning yoga practice set the tone for your day. Rise early, have a small amount of a warm beverage or water with fresh lemon squeezed into it. Join us for a practice that wakes you up from the inside out! This class is based on the breathing and movement techniques of Kundalini Yoga.
Level Two- Wed. 8:30am + Sun. @ 8:00am- 75 minute class
*We will be adding another 'Level Two' class to the schedule in September on Mondays @5:30pm
Variations on the basic yoga asanas (poses) and breathing techniques are introduced. There is both structure and improvisation in a Level Two class. Most will include sun salutation variations before we go deeper into preparing for a particular asana or working with a specific theme. This class is not for beginners.
Sunrise Yoga- Mon. + Wed. @ 6:15am- One hour class
Let an early morning yoga practice set the tone for your day. Rise early, have a small amount of a warm beverage or water with fresh lemon squeezed into it. Join us for a practice that wakes up your core, from belly-toning kapalabhati breathing to slow sun salutations and other asanas (poses) that warm us up from the inside out.
